New Concert Dates and Upcoming Release of Awakening!

Life has been quite busy lately at GUIDONIAN HANDquarters (you love it).

We have a heap of new concert dates announced all over the country so have a look at the updated SCHEDULE.   Hopefully we’re coming to a venue near you but if not feel free to bug your local concert series or university until we do!

So after many months of planning and rehearsal we have just finished recording our first feature recording of an original work. After some good time spent in the “mastering cave” we will soon be releasing “Awakening” by our immensely talented composer-in-residence Jeremy Howard Beck.

After the premiere at Juilliard in the Spring of 2010, we have had the privilege of performing the piece all over the country including the International Trombone Festival in Austin, Tx, University of the Arts in Philadelphia, West Chester University as well as other venues here in NYC to incredible reception.  In our humbly biased opinion, we honestly believe it is one of the best trombone quartets ever written and we can’t wait to share it with the world.

On April 22, we’ll be closing a set with “Awakening” at the Galapagos Arts Space in Brooklyn as part of a triple bill of Ariel Artists including Oni Buchanan and Duo Orfeo(information here).  We’re looking forward to finally hearing our fellow Ariel’s live!

Until then, feast your eyes on some hot action shots from our recent recording session at the Manhattan School of Music:

Cheers,

-Sebastian

We're somewhere back there behind all the mics.

Almost ready to go!

Dustin, our audio engineer, was incredible.

Mark's always perfectly annotated part.

Maestro Jeff Gavett. He made this process so comfortable.

Technology.

MSM's Greenfield Hall is perfect for trombones.

Awakening is stunning, guys – you sound absolutely fabulous and the piece totally works! I listened to it first, and then stumbled on the program notes, which completely jibed with the feeling of the piece. What a fabulous sound you guys have!

I’m almost ready to send to the two movements I’ve been working on!

    Best wishes,
